"Andrews Green Bean's" came about because of a growing frustration with a lack of Canadian green bean dealers, Canadian internet retail websites, & shop roasting retailers not selling green coffee at more reasonable prices. Some times at the roasted price!!, {:-O or a couple of dollars or possibly 1/4 to 1/2 less than the roasted price, for green coffee. I was tired of paying outrageous prices here in Canada & also with the hassles of ordering from US internet retailers, plus the exorbitant exchange rates, duties, brokerage fees, shipping costs, etc, & our own limited Canada Customs exemption allowances for & as individuals.
I licenced the "Sole Proprietorship" company & received my MBL (Master Business Licence) on Tuesday July 8/2003 & had the website up on Saturday August 16/2003.
On Fri Jan 2/04 I applied to our Canadian Federal government for my Import/Export license, & received it within 1 hr on the phone!! {:-O & the paper record I received Fri Jan 9/04! I will be requesting some more samples soon & will be dealing with Royal Coffee, one of the biggest & the best!!, Royal Coffee Oakland Ca & Royal Coffee NY. Also contacted Dr. John of the Josuma Coffee Company & purchased MG on Tues Jan 13/04. The Malabar Gold is in stock as of Thurs Jan 22/04.
I had wanted to start & form a Green Coffee buying Co-op originally, & actually started selling green coffee to interested Coffeegeeks, alties, aficionados, coffeeheads, homeroasters in the Toronto & surrounding areas within driving distance, for pick-up only from my private residence.This was to keep prices as low as I could for members of a possible Co-op, & still offer the very best quality & price/value for everyones hard earned dollar!
I also knew in the immediate future that I had to get into shipping too, so I started out slowly & shipped out a few orders when asked. I put out a calling all *Toronto Area* alt.coffee community members announcement on the alt.coffee newsgroup with this posting here April 3/2002 & this one here also April 4/2002.
